Captain's Message 2011 - 2012
I would like to extend a warm Southwell Golf Club welcome to all visitors to our website.
We at Southwell Golf Club take great pride in being recognised as a truly friendly club not only by our members but also by visitors and it is a great honour for me to be elected as Club Captain for 2011/12.
Our course has many interesting features and it provides a good test of golf for all abilities. The club has active Men’s, Ladies, Senior and Junior sections with regular competitions in each, mixed competitions and Team Matches. Should you wish to join us or just visit for the day and play you will be made most welcome by our professional and Golf Course Manager, Chris White, and in our comfortable clubhouse, sample our excellent fare provided by Catering Manager Bernie Forbes and his staff.
I am sure we are all hoping for some good weather for our golf this year and I would like to invite you to enter our Men’s, Ladies and Senior Opens, details of which can be found in the Open Competitions Section on this website. Also in this section are details of The Charity Open, which this year is supporting Yeoman Park School, Mansfield Woodhouse, and The Orchard School, Newark. Both support children with physical and special educational needs and any monies raised will be used to help the children outside the curriculum. The Lady Captain and I hope you will help us support these worthy causes. All these competitions provide a good days golf, good prizes and an opportunity to mix with other like minded golfers.
My fellow Captains, Lady Captain Sheila Pawson, Seniors Captain John Thompson, and Junior Captain Sam Wright are all looking forward to this year with great enthusiasm and to meeting you all, and we wish members and visitors alike a happy and successful year.
