General Rules For Competitions
1. Competitions played under the auspices of the Competition Committee
are only open to amateur golfers with an official handicap, (unless
the official entry sheet states otherwise).
2. Entry Fees must be paid before play commences. If the fee has not been paid, the player
will be disqualified from the competition.
3. Qualifying competitions are played off
full handicap. For other competitions, the proportion of handicap
allowed will be shown on the Competition Entry Sheet.
4. In strokeplay, start times and groups in which competitors play will
as per the official entry sheet. Players must start at the time
stipulated. Players not on the starting tee, and ready to play,
up to 5 minutes after their published start time will incur a 2
stroke penalty on the first hole. Lateness in excess of 5 minutes
will result in disqualification.
5. following the completion of a competition, all players must return their scorecard,
whether complete or not. Failure to do so will result in a ' No return'.
6. In matchplay, matches must be completed by the day stipulated
as the closing date. No extensions will be allowed, hence in Knockout
Competitions if the match is not played by the date stipulated by
the Competitions Committee then both players or teams will be eliminated
from the competition.
Alternatively, the players may decide between themselves who will
progress to the next round. Any disputes should be referred to the
Captain and the Chairman of the Competitions Committee whose decision
will be final.
It should be noted that both players or teams have an equal responsibility
to arrange their matches. In all cases the name(s) of the player(s)
progressing to the next round must be entered on the relevant competition
sheet on or before the due date. Failure to do so will result in
disqualification.
7.Competition Entrants Responsibilities.
Competitions where names entered against a time slot.
In the event of players having to withdraw, they may delete their name
from the entry sheet, without notification, if two or more remain
in the same time slot. If however it leaves a single player only
in the time slot, the player withdrawing must immediately notify
the Competition Organiser or any member of the Competitions Committee.
Competitions subject to Draw.
Once the draw has been published a player must not cross their name off
the draw sheet without first notifying the Competition Organiser
any member of the Competition Committee. - The Committee
may impose sanctions on any offender.
Failure to turn up for a Competition.
Any player failing to turn up for a competition, without prior notice shall
receive an official communication from the Club Secretary advising
them of their non-attendance, and informing them that should the
re-offend within a 12 month period they will receive a ban from
all competitions for such a period as the Committee deem appropriate.
